Brent is a native of Columbus, Ohio who lived for more than forty years in Indiana, primarily on Ploughshares Farm, which was part of his wife Nancy's family farm. Ploughshares started out as 50 acres of farmland that Brent and Nancy converted to tall grass prairie and native hardwood forest. It is a registered wildlife preserve.
After Nancy's passing, Brent moved back to his home state of Ohio. He now lives in Delaware, Ohio just north of where he grew up.
A graduate of Wilmington College and Earlham School of Religion, Brent's served as a local congregational pastor, a denominational executive, a non-profit executive, and more.
Brent's been writing since the late 1970s and has published a number of books, short stories, articles, and essays.
Trained in photography, Brent can often be seen with his trusty Nikon, trying to capture what he calls "the holy ordinary" -- daily life that opens him to Divine encounters.
He also leads writing and spirituality retreats.
In 2025 Brent married his long-time and dear friend Donna.
